about me
I began my study of photography as a high school student in the 1990s, and spent years hoping and planning to build a darkroom in my house. Eventually I made the switch to a digital SLR, and I have learned to accept my computer and editing software as the next best thing to the darkroom I always wished for. Although I’m now making photographs in the absence of chemicals, and without having to worry about running out of film, I use the newest digital editing technology minimally. I want to make pictures in the way that my predecessors have been since the beginning, of real events that took place.
I take pictures of people and places in their natural state: imperfect expressions, floor still-a-mess. I take pictures of real life, as it happens.
I live in Greenfield, MA, with my wife and our seven children, all of whom appear frequently in the pages of this website and on my blog. If you’re interested in hiring a videographer, you should check out my son, Jasper Fletcher, a talented artist and award-winning young filmmaker.
